About Me

I'm Brittany and I have always been a rather active person. I played competitive softball for 17 years, including four years of college. Once I graduated from college and no longer had softball to keep me active, I started running. I ran a few half marathons and even finished a full marathon in 2010. I'm happy I can say that I've done that, but I will likely stick to smaller races from now on. :) In June 2010 I got engaged to Troy and we set our wedding date the following summer of 2011. I was in grad school at the time studying to become a School Psychologist and I wanted to get in the best shape for our big day. My parents gave me Insanity for Christmas in 2010. I was running and completed the 60-day program before our wedding and was arguably in the best shape of my life! I was the strongest and most toned that I had ever been. I felt incredible and Troy didn't think I looked too bad either. ;) We got married and I continued running and supplementing with Insanity during the cold months. I love living in Michigan, but I could definitely do without the cold and long winter months. Insanity was perfect because I didn't have to leave our warm house! Troy and I also had a gym membership and would go together a few days a week. I usually stuck to the treadmill - BORING, I know!

In 2012, I became a School Psychologist and got my first REAL job in the schools. YAY! In early 2013, we found out that we were expecting our first baby - a BOY! I ran for 8 months of the pregnancy and did yoga when my body needed a good stretch. We welcomed Nolan into our family on 10/27/13! I only gained 19 pounds with this baby but I was DETERMINED to get my pre-baby body back. During most of the first year, I continued running and doing Insanity when it was too cold outside. The weight came off fairly quickly...I think nursing helped with some of that too.

I took 12 weeks off when Nolan was born and it was SOOO hard to go back to work. Therefore, I began searching for a part-time position. I secured a part-time position as a Behavior Specialist in the district that we live in for the 2014-2015 school year. What a blessing! It seemed like the best of both worlds - I got to be home with Nolan AND I got my adult time in too. Then in October 2014, I decided that I wanted to purchase a new workout program since we were heading into the cold months. I wasn't sure what program was best so I reached out to a friend, who happened to be a Beachbody Coach. We chatted for awhile and decided that PiYo was the perfect fit for me since I had already lost the baby weight but I wanted to tone everything up. As we were talking, I asked her what exactly being a Beachbody Coach means. The truth is - I had considered it on and off since I had completed my first round of Insanity back in 2011. I just didn't know enough and was too scared to jump into something new. Troy and I talked a lot, especially about the time and financial commitment. I wasn't going to do it, but Troy told me to give it a try for a few months and then we will reassess. So on October 25, 2014 I became a Beachbody Coach!

I completed PiYo, while drinking Shakeology (for the first time ever) during the fall of 2014 and was amazed by how much my body changed. I had a tight and flat stomach again. I was in disbelief because I NEVER thought I could actually get my body back after having a baby. I was hooked. In December 2014 we found out that we were pregnant again. You guessed it, another BOY! I worked out during the entire pregnancy. Early on, I completed Insanity Max:30. Then I decided to do P90X3 and found out that I LOVE Tony Horton and the variety that this program offers. Toward the end of the pregnancy I started doing PiYo again. I felt like I was in decent shape, but I struggled with my nutrition late in the pregnancy. Come on...it was summer, really hot and all I wanted was ice cream. That is why I gained 35 pounds this time. YIKES!

After a VERY difficult delivery and an emergency C-section, we welcomed Baby Simon into our family on 8/26/15. Let me just say, recovering from a C-section is no joke. It was sooo hard having so many restrictions placed on me. I was only allowed to lift the baby - WHAT?! On day 3, I told Troy that I couldn't wait to go for a walk once we got home. Then I walked out to the car the next day and reality hit. I could hardly walk and a family walk was definitely not going to happen. It was a looong 4 weeks, but then we started going on short family walks. At 6 weeks post-partum all restrictions were lifted and I was cleared to workout again (within reason, of course)! BEST DAY EVER!

At 6 weeks post partum, I still weighed 10 pounds more than I did before we got pregnant. I started doing random Beachbody workouts on Beachbody on Demand and running when Troy was able to watch the boys for me. Then I decided to pick and commit to a program - T25 is what I chose mostly because I loved Shaun T and it was only 25 minutes long - PERFECT for a busy mom of 2!
